Other Bed Bugs That Don’t Necessarily Prefer Humans

According to A-Z-Animals.com, in addition to these three main types, there are a number of other bed bug species that are found in more limited areas. These include:

  • Oeciacus vicarius, the swallow bug, is found in the nests of swallows and other birds.
  • Haematosiphon inodorus, the Mexican chicken bug, is found on chickens and other poultry.
  • Bat bugs, which are found on bats.

Bed bugs are small, flat insects that are about the size of an apple seed. They are reddish-brown in color and have no wings. Bed bugs feed exclusively on blood, and they typically bite humans at night while they are sleeping. Bed bug bites can cause itching and inflammation, and they can sometimes lead to secondary infections.

Bed bugs are difficult to get rid of, and they can be a major nuisance. If you think you have bed bugs, it is important to check for bed bugs at home immediately.
